Three days of pastel streets, sea-wall mornings and Franco-Tamil cooking in the old White Town.
A short, deliberately slow trip through the quietest colonial quarter in south India. You stay inside White Town so the mornings start on foot, eat Creole food that exists nowhere else in the country, and take one day out to Auroville and the fishing villages up the coast.
Every stop, stay and meal in the order you'll meet them. The line fills as you scroll.
Driven down from Chennai along the coast road. Check in to a restored heritage house in White Town, then an evening walk along the Promenade once it closes to vehicles, finishing with a Creole dinner.
An early guided walk through the French and Tamil quarters, the Botanical Garden and Sacred Heart Basilica. After lunch, out to Auroville for the Matrimandir viewing point and the forest it was planted into.
A backwater boat to Paradise Beach for the morning, then the drive back to Chennai for onward travel.
The two things that decide whether a trip feels considered or improvised.

The questions travellers ask most about this journey.
Not there — the town beach is a rock sea wall rather than sand. Swimming happens at Paradise Beach on day three, which is reached by boat and is calm in season.
No. Inner-chamber passes are issued by Auroville a day in advance in limited numbers and cannot be guaranteed, so the itinerary uses the viewing point. We will try to book passes on request.
